April and David planned a road trip out to Colorado to elope in the San Juans. They brought two of their closest friends and their adorable doggy Mavis to celebrate. We went up to an alpine lake and caught the tail end of the wildflower season. It was such a quiet and beautiful afternoon up at the alpine lake with nobody else around.
April and David had their first look together and a private moment before their ceremony. Their friends did such an amazing job leading the ceremony too! I knew they wanted a “natural chuppah” for the ceremony. And I immediately thought of this spot with the lone tree. It was a stunning ceremony spot and I’m so happy they trusted me to find something that worked perfectly for them. They brought out some beers and celebrated for a moment before exploring up the trail. April and David were so easygoing and fun to explore with. They were laughing and being sweet to each other the whole time.
The clouds rolled in and it started raining. It soon passed over and we made our way down the trail to meet their friends at the lake to sign their marriage license. It’s official!
To celebrate and wind down their elopement, April and David set up a blanket to play board games and enjoy their beers. They had custom cards printed for their game with photos from throughout their relationship. It was such a cute and unique detail for their day. And when the sun came back out again at sunset, we went back on the trail for a few more photos to take in the alpenglow.
I always love when couples come down to the San Juans and I get to show them some local spots! They were so much fun to explore with. And I’m so happy they planned an elopement that was chill, casual, and exactly what they wanted. I hope to hike with April, David, and of course Mavis at some point in the future!
