A Grand Teton National Park Elopement with Guests: Tara + James
Tara and James traveled all the way from Australia to get married in Grand Teton National Park, bringing their closest friends along to witness their vows. Their summer wedding day was filled with tears, laughter, and the kind of genuine celebration that happens when you gather the people who matter most in one of the most stunning places on earth.
Getting Ready with Teton Views
The day began at a beautiful cabin with sweeping views of the Tetons. There’s something special about getting ready with those iconic peaks watching over you, knowing that in just a few hours, you’ll be standing before them making promises to spend your lives together. Tara and James had their closest friends around them as they prepared, the energy full of excitement and anticipation for what the day would bring.
Oxbow Bend Ceremony
We made our way to Oxbow Bend for their ceremony, one of the most iconic locations in Grand Teton National Park. With Mt. Moran rising in the distance and the Snake River reflecting the surrounding peaks, it’s hard to imagine a more dramatic natural backdrop for saying “I do.”
What made their ceremony truly unforgettable wasn’t just the location—it was the words shared by their friends. Each guest spoke about Tara and James, sharing stories and sentiments that brought everyone to tears. There’s something incredibly moving about hearing the people who know you best describe your love story and what your relationship means to them. These weren’t rehearsed speeches but genuine expressions of love and support from people who had traveled across the world to be there for this moment.
Golden Hour in the Tetons
After the ceremony and celebration with their friends, I whisked Tara and James away for some golden hour magic. We explored some of my favorite spots along the outer road, taking in the incredible summer light as it painted the Tetons in warm golden tones. The way the evening light hits these mountains is something you have to see to believe.
We ended at Mormon Row just as the sun was setting, with the historic barns silhouetted against the Tetons and the sky blazing with color. It’s one of those classic Grand Teton moments that never gets old, and watching Tara and James take it all in—just the two of them in this quiet, beautiful moment after the emotion of their ceremony—was absolutely perfect.
Celebrating at the Cowboy Bar
No Grand Teton elopement is complete without experiencing a bit of Jackson Hole’s western charm. We headed downtown to the famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar to celebrate. There’s something so fun about transitioning from the quiet majesty of the mountains to the lively energy of Jackson’s most iconic watering hole, sitting on those saddle barstools and toasting to newlyweds who’d just had the adventure of a lifetime.
When Your Friends Become Part of Your Story
What made Tara and James’s day so special was the way they wove their closest friends into their elopement experience. It wasn’t a traditional big wedding, but it wasn’t a completely private elopement either—it was something perfectly in between. They got to have the intimate, adventurous experience of eloping in a national park while still being surrounded by the people who love them most.
The tears, the laughter, the heartfelt words, the stunning views, and yes, even the celebratory drinks at the Cowboy Bar—it all came together to create a day that was uniquely theirs. And the fact that they traveled from Australia to make it happen? That’s the kind of commitment to adventure and to each other that makes elopements so special.
Congratulations, Tara and James. Thank you for bringing your love and your favorite people all the way to the Tetons to celebrate.
